Hermodice carunculata

This is a wandering sea worm belonging to the class of Polychaeta. Harmless in aquariums and very useful when you have a DSB.    

                           

It lives between rocks and seabed and is considered useful because it feeds on decaying substances, dead fish and other debris. 

 

Below is a photo where the worm is feeding on a dead star.

 

                 

It  becomes dangerous only if it multiplies quickly forming colonies that are too large.

Below is a video recorded with the microscope where you can see the stinging bristles (always use gloves when you put your hands in the tank).
